It is safe to say that rasam is one of the most basic and essential dishes served with any South Indian meal that is commonly eaten with plain rice and a few vegetable side dishes. It is also enjoyed as a tangy soup that acts as an appetizer. This traditional soup is made with tamarind or tomatoes, aromatic herbs, and spices that give you that warmth with the first sip. Our Lakpura experts have come up with the perfect Rasam powder that can be added to the mix to give that depth of flavour you need to enjoy a hearty meal.
Ingredients: Coriander Seeds, Turmeric Powder, Pepper, Toor Dhal (Split Pigeon Peas/Yellow Lentils), Matar Dhal (Yellow Split Peas), Asafoetida, Curry Leaves, Fenugreek, and Red Chilli.
Method: Add 1 tablespoon of oil in a hot pan and fry about 1/2 a chopped onion with 3 garlic cloves on a low flame till translucent. Add about 1/2 tomato and sauté for a few minutes. Then add 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of Lakpura Rasam Powder with salt and tamarind water to taste. Make sure that the tanginess of the tamarind is highlighted. Once the water comes to a boil, the Rasam soup is ready to serve.
