Directly associated with the Sri Lanka Ramayana Trail, there are about 52 sites that you can visit while touring the island. These Ramayana sites consist of a number of Temples, Kovils, stunning Geographical locations which includes Mountains and Archaeological buildings that speak of an era of romance, war, myth and culture.
Is there an Entrance fee when visiting Ramayana Sites of Sri Lanka?This depends on the sites that you visit during your stay. There is no entrance fee for most of the Hindu Temples/Kovils and some of the Ramayana related sites in Sri Lanka but your donations are always accepted. There are prayer services (Puja service) that you can participate where you need to purchase a ticket of approximately USD 2. There are some temples and sites including the Dambulla Cave Temple, the Cobra Hood Cave Sigiriya and the Ashoka Vatika (believed to be a part of a botanic garden) where you need to pay an entrance fee.
Is it safe to travel to Jaffna now?Yes. Sri Lanka saw an end to the gruesome Civil War in 2009 and has since been a safe haven to travel including Jaffna and the North parts of the island. We offer a special Sri Lanka Ramayana Yatra package which also consists of a visit to Jaffna.
Are these Ramayana Related sites open every day?Yes. Most of the places are open 365 days for the public from morning to evening.
How many Sanjivani Sites (Mountains) are found in Sri Lanka?According to the legend of Hanuman, Sanjivani (Sanjeevini) drops which are related to the epic Ramayana is believed to have fallen on five sites in Sri Lanka. The sites include;

No. Not all Ramayana sites can be visited in such a short time period. A selected few - yes. You will have to stay at least 7 - 8 days to cover most of the important Ramayana related sites. We at Lakpura offer packages that start from 5 days and can be adjusted further up to 8 days or 11 days depending on your travel requirements.
How many days do I need to visit all Ramayana sites in Sri Lanka?You will need approximately 12 days to cover all Ramayana trail sites of Sri Lanka.
Can I visit the Kandy Buddhist Temple (Temple of the Sacred Tooth), the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kandy during a Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka?Yes. You will stay 2 nights in Kandy during a 10 night Ramayana Tour. Kandy Buddhist Temple (Temple of the Sacred Tooth), Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Royal Botanic Gardens included in your package along with a Kandy City sightseeing tour .
Can we tailor-make the itinerary or must we follow the standard Ramayana tour packages?We at Lakpura always caters to our clients requirements and tailor-made Ramayana tour are available at your convenience. We can design a Sri Lankan Ramayana Tour just for you with careful consideration on facts including the travel period, budget, ages of the travel group and even special interests such as beach side or mountains etc. All you have to do is contact us with your travel requirement.
Can I visit other cultural or wildlife attractions during a Ramayana Tour in Sri Lanka?Yes. You can visit other cultural triangle attractions and wildlife parks in Sri Lanka but your Ramayana Tour itinerary should be discussed with our travel executives beforehand to manage the time and prepare a proper schedule.
Can we visit the Ram Setu Bridge / Adam’s Bridge while we are on a Ramayana Tour in Sri Lanka ?No. The Ram Setu Bridge is not included in regular Ramayana packages of 7 nights or 10 nights. Visiting the site over land is not possible while the only way to have a look is to have an aerial view by a chartered helicopter or small aircraft. You will be able to view a long chain of sand dunes or limestone shoals between Sri Lanka and India which is believed to be the Ram Setu Bridge.
Can I visit the Yala National Park while on a Ramayana Tour of Sri Lanka?Yes. Visiting the National Park is possible. However, you need to be an early riser and leave for the park at dawn while the safari can last for about 3 hours. Then you will need to visit the Kataragama Temple which is an important site linked to the epic Ramayana tale.
Can I participate in the Puja / prayer services while am on Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka?Yes this is possible but you need to discuss with our Lakpura tour executives beforehand to check the puja timings at each of these temples and kovils in Sri Lanka.
What are the hotels that you provide for Sri Lanka Ramayana Tour packages?Generally, Lakpura provides three accommodation plans with mix of 3 to 5 star accommodation options while you may decide the selection as per your budget. Lakpura may change the accommodation plan as per your estimated budget.

Do you provide medical assistance in case of emergency during Ramayana tour Sri Lanka ?Yes Of course. Lakpura is well connected with all medical centres / doctors island wide while we maintain updated records of ambulance services and on-call doctors. We do have 24 Hours x 7 Days x 365 Days operational assistance in Colombo and all emergency medical situations will be handled with no time.
Can we request personal assistant from Lakpura during Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka ?Yes. This is possible for every senior citizen but additional charges may apply.
Do I receive all 3 meals or only breakfast during a Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka?Yes. We provide 3 meals (Full Board) from arrival to departure for all Ramayana Group Tours in Sri Lanka. However, we provide only breakfast and dinner for tailor-made exclusive tours.
Do we receive elevators (Lift) / Tea and Coffee making facilities / swimming pool / easy accessible rooms during this Sri Lanka Ramayana Tour with Lakpura ?Yes. These Ramayana tour Packages are mindfully designed including hotels with all of the above facilities. We do work with highly recommended tourist board approved luxury 4 or 5 star properties and all hotels are under constant audit of Lakpura especially on service levels and hygiene matters. We will provide you complete details before hand including names of the hotels along with a comprehensive trip note.
Can I request wheelchairs from hotel/s or wheelchair accessible rooms during Sri Lanka Ramayana tour ?Yes it’s possible. However, you need to inform this well in advance to coordinate with hotels in Sri Lanka. Most of the hotels we provide for the Ramayana trail are wheelchair accessible but you must inform your country manager before hand to ensure the service is provided.
Can I book a fully wheelchair accessible Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka ?Yes we do operate accessible holidays in Sri Lanka but we cannot merge you with the regular Ramayana group tours in Sri Lanka. The only option is to book an exclusive Ramayana tour with a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Can I change the Ramayana itinerary in Sri Lanka while I’m on tour?Not at all. You cannot change the accommodation plan which we already confirmed but you may change itinerary if time permits. Charges may apply if any additional transport / mileage is required.
What is best time to do a Sri Lanka Ramayana tour?It’s a year round tour but the winter season is recommended.
Can I access all Ramayana sites of Sri Lanka especially the Ravana Caves?You are allowed to go up to the entrance of the caves but it’s not possible to explore inside the cave network while you are on holiday.
Can senior citizens have access to the Sanjeevani Mountains / Ravana Caves / Ravana Ella (Falls) ?As a responsible travel company, we advice senior citizens to refrain from climbing or hiking up to the Ravana Caves / Sanjivani Mountain Ritigala. However, you can view all sites from the main road.
Can I get a Tamil or Hindi speaking Guide for a Ramayana Tour in Sri Lanka?Yes but it is always subject to availability. Generally, Lakpura provides English speaking Ramayana qualified guides for all our tours. All our tour guides are carefully hand-picked / well qualified responsible guides who have qualified the rigorous examination held by SLTDA (Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority).
Can I purchase a mobile SIM card on arrival / do you provide mobile SIM cards for travellers on arrival?Yes Lakpura provides a free SIM card on arrival. You will need to request in advance along with a copy of your passport.
Do I have access to free Wi-Fi during Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka?We do provide free Wi-Fi connections throughout the tour. Only one router is available per coach in which a maximum of 10 devices / people can be connected at once. Also you will have access to free Wi-Fi from most of the star class hotels you stay.
Do I receive emergency support from Lakpura while we are on tour?Of course you will receive 24 x 7 support for all tours since we monitor each and every single moment of your trip from Colombo.
Are these Ramayana tour exclusive or group tours?Generally we operate private / exclusive Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka but if you wish to join the next group tour, you need to contact our Indian Country Manager as per the below contact details.
How many people are in one Ramayana group tour in Sri Lanka ?The maximum number of people in one group is 40. However, we do cater to groups that consist of 20 people and 6 people. You can always discuss with our country manager in India when making arrangements.
How can I join your next Ramayana group tour from Chennai / Hyderabad or Delhi ?You need to contact our India country manager as per the below contact details so that the tour can be well organized.
Do you serve water during Ramayana Yatra / Tour in Sri Lanka ?Yes your Ramayana package includes 1 litre bottled water per person per day. This is not a hard and fast rule and you may utilize water as much you need from the refrigerator in the coach.
Can we pay the Ramayana Tour Package cost to your Indian agent in Mumbai / Chennai ?Yes of course. You can directly pay our agent in Mumbai / Chennai / Cochin.
Do you serve pure vegetarian food during our Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka?Yes. Lakpura informs all hotels to serve vegetarian dishes and we closely monitor the food management. But if your accommodation consists of a 4 or 5 star hotel during the Ramayana tour, you have to serve from the regular buffet. However, we do inform all hotels to arrange vegetarian dishes well in advance so you need not worry.
What is the meal plan for Ramayana packages in Sri Lanka ?All group tours are full board and you will receive all 3 meals from arrival to departure. We provide breakfast and dinner from the hotel where you stay but all lunches will be served outside at recommended tourist restaurants.
Do you provide airport assistance for Ramayana tour in Sri Lanka ?Yes. You will be welcomed by a Lakpura tour manager and your guide. Also we do keep close communications with you / airport authority / airlines by providing constant updates on your flight.
